While National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan visits Israel, Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to visit Jordan and Turkey tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday to discuss events in the region, according to the Associated Press.
According to the report, Blinken will focus mostly on developments in Syria, especially America's hopes of a peaceful transition of power and the establishment of a genuinely inclusive democracy in the country, as well as ensuring it does not become a terrorist base or source of weapons of mass destruction for bad actors."
Blinken is reportedly also holding out the possibility of visiting other countries while in the region, and he reportedly also seeks to discuss the possible ending of the war in Gaza and the securing of a deal there.
President-elect Donald Trump has already expressed his desire to see Israel's conflicts end before his inauguration on January 20 of next year, and some sources say this pressure is helping negotiations with Hamas.
