A new AP poll released today (Wednesday) shows just 2 in 10 Americans approve of outgoing President Biden's decision to grant his son a sweeping pardon for all possible crimes committed from 2014 until the time of the pardon.
According to the poll, just 2 in 10 Americans and under 4 in 10 Democrats agree with the pardon, while 8 in 10 Republicans and a little over half of independents disagreed with it - as did almost 3 in 10 Democrats. The rest neither agreed or disagreed with the decision.
This sweeping disapproval tracks with a bipartisan backlash to the decision, with many on the left voicing their concern that Biden's decision to pardon his son following months of promising not to do so would now open the way for President-elect Trump to be able to grant sweeping pardons of his own on the same grounds.
