IDF Spokesperson in Arabic, Avichai Adraee, clarified this morning (Tuesday) that reports circulated in certain media outlets claiming that IDF forces are advancing or approaching Damascus are completely incorrect.
According to Adrai, IDF forces are located within the buffer zone and at defensive points close to the border in order to protect Israel's borders.
The statement by the IDF spokesperson came in response to reports on the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen channel that Israeli tanks are located 3 km from the town of Qatana in the southern suburbs of Damascus, which is only 20 km from Damascus. It was also reported that the IDF has taken control of a series of villages in the southern suburbs of Damascus.
Meanwhile, after we reported yesterday that the IDF is operating intensively in Syria and working to destroy Assad's air force – the full picture is now becoming clear. Israel is systematically acting and destroying all of Assad's stockpiles, targeting the Air Force, Navy, Ground Forces, and even chemical weapon depots.
Security sources in Syria told the Reuters news agency that Israel attacked several air force bases across Syria, destroying infrastructure and dozens of helicopters and planes. The strikes included targets at a facility linked to chemical weapons production in the Barzeh area as well as at the Damascus airport, the capital of Syria.
