A deeply personal letter from his former yeshiva head has brought strength to Eli Feldstein, following 45 grueling days in Shin Bet custody. The letter arrived during his darkest hours of detention, offering spiritual solace when he needed it most.
"I think about you often," wrote Rabbi Mordechai Rabinowitz, head of Or Yisrael Yeshiva in Petah Tikvah, where Feldstein studied as a young man. "Remember that you are never alone - the Almighty is with you in your distress."
The rabbi shared a stirring story from the Holocaust, describing a man in the ghetto who found joy during those nightmarish times, declaring that while everything could be taken from him, his faith remained unshakeable.
The impact of these words was profound. Sources close to Feldstein revealed the letter became a source of hope during his final days in custody, breathing new life into his spirit at an impossibly trying moment.
On Monday evening, after six weeks of detention, Feldstein finally walked out of Eshel Prison, though his freedom remains restricted. Under the terms of his release to his parents' home in Bnei Brak, he must wear an electronic monitor and surrender his passport.
The court has also banned him from using smartphones or any computer communications, with police maintaining surveillance of his communications.
