For the first time in 40 years? The heavy blow dealt to Iran

Oded Ilam, former head of the Counter-Terrorism Division at the Mossad, addressed the implications of the fall of the Assad regime, stating that Iran is in its worst state in 40 years.

In an interview with Radio 103FM, Ilam said: "Iran is in its worst state since August '88, when the Iran-Iraq War ended." Iran's entire security perception collapsed live on air. They betrayed all their proxies who relied on them: Iran betrayed Hamas, betrayed Hezbollah, betrayed the Syrians, and now stands naked and exposed against Israel's capabilities, left alone on the battlefield.

According to him, Iran is at a crossroads: "It has two options – the first option is to accelerate its nuclear project on steroids to create an alternative to what they have lost. To say – come talk to us, we are North Korea for the sake of argument. Or the opposite: reaching an agreement with the Americans due to their inferior strategic position. The same conditions and everything that entails in exchange for the lifting of the sanctions."

He noted that "if there is currently a proposal for an agreement of this kind on the table, Israel must attack Iran's nuclear sites, and I would also add the gas and oil sites to collapse the Iranian regime from within."

At the end of his remarks, Ilam noted that "the Iranian people are fed up with the current regime." We need to create for him the incentive and the ability to rise up, rebel, and overthrow the regime. The regime's greatest fear is not external, it is internal."
