The political echelon is considering deepening the IDF's control within the Syrian Golan Heights to deter the entry of rebel forces into the area, as reported this evening by Kan News. According to the report, the cabinet unanimously approved the decision to seize the buffer zone and control points in the Golan Heights for a few kilometers.

According to an informed source, at a later date, the cabinet will also decide whether to further expand this area 'before someone else fills the vacuum.' Additionally, the IDF is taking the opportunity to bomb weapons sites, air force bases, and areas with advanced weaponry to prevent the rebels from reaching Assad's advanced military arsenal.

Meanwhile, after numerous reports and denials that followed, the Russian government announced this evening (Sunday) that the ousted President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, and his family have been granted political asylum in Russia and have arrived in Moscow.

Earlier, the country's Foreign Ministry reported a statement saying that Assad left Damascus and "ordered a non-violent transfer of power." A few minutes before the Russian announcement about Assad's escape, a transport plane took off from the Russian base in Latakia.
