A 21-year-old woman died Sunday afternoon in a devastating collision with a commercial truck on Route 293 near Moshav Paamei Tashaz in the northern Negev region, just outside Netivot.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the victim's vehicle severely damaged from the high-impact crash. Despite immediate medical intervention, paramedics were forced to pronounce the young woman dead at the scene. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was treated on site.
"What we encountered was absolutely devastating," said Ella Sachrai, a senior paramedic with Magen David Adom (MDA). "The car had suffered catastrophic damage, with the young woman trapped inside. She showed no vital signs - no pulse, not breathing. After our initial assessment, we had no choice but to pronounce her death."
The crash scene, which drew multiple emergency response units, painted a grim picture of the collision's severity. The victim's vehicle was nearly unrecognizable from the impact, according to first responders.
Yehuda Weizmann, a volunteer with ZAKA emergency response organization, described the harrowing scene: "Local firefighters from Netivot had to extricate the victim from the wreckage. The collision was so severe that it caused catastrophic multi-system trauma. Our volunteers worked to ensure dignified treatment of the deceased and collected all necessary items for proper burial, as per Jewish law."
United Hatzalah EMTs Gonen Oren and Chagai Knafo were among the first to arrive at the scene. "The severity of the impact left no chance of survival," they reported. "While we were able to treat the truck driver for minor injuries, the young woman's injuries proved fatal."
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Route 293 remained partially closed for several hours as accident investigators documented the scene and cleared the wreckage.
