Syrian rebels have taken over Syria, but what does this mean?

REVEALED: This is the military strength of the Syrian rebels

Professor Eyal Zisser addressed the events in Syria and the strength of the rebels: "Assuming that Iran is the main enemy we thought would threaten Israel - this is certainly good."

Prof. Eyal Zisser, a Middle East expert from Tel Aviv University, comments on the dramatic developments in Syria – with the fall of the Assad regime – and says that this is good news for Israel and a huge blow to Iran.

In an interview with Radio 103FM, Zisser said: "Assuming that Iran is the main and powerful enemy alongside Hezbollah, which we thought would paralyze Israel, it is certainly good for us." This is a devastating blow to this axis. Whoever took control of Syria is a small rebel force. They have many challenges, they project moderation, certainly for the coming years. This is a calming signal, even though I see our energy. We might have headaches.

Zisser referred to the capabilities of the rebels and said: "There was no revolution in Syria." What happened to us on October 7 happened to Bashar, the Iranians, and the Syrians. Under their noses, in an area under Turkish protection in northern Syria, an army has emerged. These are not gangs in flip-flops with Toyotas – this is an organized and disciplined army that has risen and conquered all of Syria. This is a force of only tens of thousands. It's not Assad's army with missiles and chemical weapons, and it's not Hezbollah either, but it's a very well-equipped militia.

Regarding how control in Syria will look from now on, Zisser said: "This group does not really control Syria. The eastern half of the country is Kurdish under Turkish protection, the Alawites are in the coastal area, and the Druze are in the south. They have a lot of work ahead of them before they can say they not only control Damascus but the whole of Syria.
