A significant additional troop reinforcement was dispatched this morning (Sunday) to the Golan Heights border, according to the report by Doron Kadosh. The 98th Division was mobilized along with the Paratroopers Brigade and the Commando Brigade.

The IDF spokesperson stated that in light of the events in Syria and according to the situation assessment and the possibility of armed individuals entering the buffer zone, the IDF has deployed forces in the buffer zone and in several points necessary for defense, in order to ensure the security of the communities in the Golan Heights and the citizens of Israel.

We emphasize that the IDF does not intervene in events occurring in Syria.

The IDF will continue to operate as long as necessary to maintain the buffer zone and protect the State of Israel and its citizens.

In the early morning, the rebels reached Assad's presidential palace and took control of it without a fight. Later, they reached Syria's official television and radio stations and announced that Assad's regime had officially fallen. The Prime Minister of Syria announced that he would cooperate with the rebels and continue to manage the state's institutions until they are handed over to them.
