The IDF announced over the weekend that it would call up additional troops for defensive missions in the Golan Heights, adjacent to the Israel-Syria border, following a situational assessment related to the ongoing war in Syria.

The announcement comes after the military concluded a General Staff exercise on Friday in the northern Jordan Valley and southern Golan Heights. The exercise, led by the Operations Directorate, tested readiness across air and ground units, focusing on rapid response to emerging incidents.

As part of the drill, soldiers from various training programs and squadrons participated in real-time scenarios designed to evaluate reaction times and coordination. Some of these troops have remained stationed in the Golan Heights to bolster defensive operations along the volatile Syrian border, the IDF confirmed.
