Syrian Rebels: UN is part of Syria and must be protected

Following a reported attack by armed men, possibly rebel soldiers, the anti-Assad war room declared the UN under its protection.

Following an attack today (Saturday) against a UN outpost in Syria by armed men, possibly anti-Assad rebel forces, the rebel war room or spokesperson announced that UN institutions are under its protection.

In a statement it release today, the central rebel spokesperson said that "all international institutions and UN offices in Syria are institutions in the service of the Syrian nation and there is a duty to protect them and allow them to continue to work wherever they need to in Syria."
