Israel sent a stern message to Iran, demanding that it refrain from sending forces or transferring weapons to Assad's army, out of concern that the weapons would end up with Hezbollah, as reported by Channel 12 News. According to the report, in Israel they do not know how Iran will act and whether it will continue to avoid active intervention or assist Syria.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Israel Katz and Chief of Staff Herzl Halevi held a situational assessment earlier this evening in light of the worsening situation in Syria and the continued advance of jihadist rebels into the heart of the country.

A few hours ago, the Syrian rebels managed to capture another central city in northern Syria, the city of Hama, one of the five largest cities in the country, fell into their hands, and Assad's forces were forced to retreat from the city in disgrace.

In Israel, there are growing concerns about the escalating chaos from the north, and a state of readiness is being raised. The Chief of Staff and the Minister of Defense held a special situational assessment of the General Staff Forum regarding developments in Syria.

The IDF stated that events in Syria are under constant surveillance by security forces, and that the IDF is currently preparing for any scenario in both offense and defense. The IDF Spokesperson stated that "the IDF will not allow any threat near the Syria-Israel border and will act to thwart any threat to the citizens of the State of Israel."
