Halevi resigning as chief of staff, this is when

Dramatic report: Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi is expected to resign soon – this is his successor

The date of Herzi Halevi's retirement was agreed upon between him and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in discussions held between the two. Additionally, the two agreed that the person who will be appointed in place of Halevi is the former IDF Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, who is currently the Director General of the Ministry of Defense.

The Chief of Staff, Herzl Halevi, is expected to resign from his position in the coming weeks, as reported by the 'Makor Rishon' website. According to the report, the date of Halevi's retirement was agreed upon between him and Defense Minister Israel Katz in discussions held between the two.

The report further indicates that the two agreed that the person who will be appointed in place of Halevi is the former Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Defense, Eyal Zamir. It is worth noting that the appointment of Halevi is subject to approval by the Senior Appointments Committee.

The Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, is expected to announce his resignation from the position in just over three months. According to the report on Channel 12 News, Halevi is preparing to retire at the end of December.

On behalf of the Ministry of Defense and the IDF Spokesperson, it was stated: "Contrary to reports, there is no agreement between the Chief of Staff and the Minister of Defense regarding the Chief of Staff's resignation." These are baseless claims.

A few days ago, it was reported on Kan News that the security establishment has marked several candidates to replace Herzi Halevi. According to the report by journalist Suleiman Maswada, the first candidate is Deputy Chief of Staff Amir Baram, one of the individuals defined in the political and security system as an aggressive person. Baram is not directly related to the failure of the massacre since he is part of the IDF's force building and less involved in tactical matters.

The second is the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Eyal Zamir. Zamir is very well-regarded by Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz, but he has been associated over the past year with former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, which could prevent him from getting the position.

Another name being considered is Northern Command Chief Uri Gordin. Gordin is favored by cabinet members and is also described as an aggressive person, but at the same time, Gordin is associated with the outgoing Chief of Staff, Halevi.

The fourth name being examined with great interest is the National Religious general Eliezer Toledano, who heads the Strategy Division. Toladano is known to be close to Prime Minister Netanyahu and the right-wing ministers. However, the shadow of the October 7 events looms over Toldano after he served as the commander of the Southern Command in recent years.
