Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem: We won, we'll help refugees, we'll try to help in Syria

In a prerecorded message, the new Hezbollah leader tried to defend Hezbollah's war against the IDF which left much of south Lebanon devastated.

Hezbollah leader Sheikh Naim Qassem gave a speech today (Thursday) reasserting his belief that Hezbollah won the fight against the IDF and because "justice" was with them. He also said that the ceasefire is no different than UN Resolution 1701 and adds nothing.

Qassem also said that while Hezbollah would provide each of the over 200,000 uprooted Lebanese with a few hundred dollars courtesy of Iran and invest more in rebuilding homes, the main burden of rebuilding Lebanon would fall on the Lebanese government - something unlikely to endear him to the Lebanese refugees.

Regarding Syria, Qassem said that the rebel offensive was backed by the US and Israel supporting "terrorist forces," and that Hezbollah would "help as much as we can."
