US worried about Hezbollah's next move

Report: U.S. Intelligence Indicates Hezbollah is Rebuilding Capabilities

Hezbollah is working to restore its military capabilities and rebuild stockpiles that were severely depleted due to Israeli attacks, according to U.S. intelligence assessments. The group is actively seeking to recover from the damage inflicted during Operation Northern Arrows, Reuters reports.

Sources, including a U.S. official, an Israeli source, and two American lawmakers, confirmed that U.S. intelligence agencies recently concluded that Hezbollah has been attempting to recruit new militants and explore creative ways to acquire weapons. These efforts include local production and smuggling of materials, particularly from Syria.

U.S. intelligence estimates that Hezbollah’s firepower was significantly reduced during the conflict, with at least half of its stockpiles lost, weakening Iran’s military presence in the region. However, the reports indicate that Hezbollah is not defeated. The group still possesses thousands of short-range rockets and is working to rebuild its arsenal, potentially by establishing arms factories in neighboring countries with secure transport routes.

U.S. officials are concerned about Hezbollah's continued access to Syria, especially amidst ongoing conflicts and a recent surprise attack by Syrian rebels on government-held areas in Aleppo and Hama. Washington is attempting to influence the Assad regime to limit Hezbollah’s operations within Syria and is collaborating with other parties to achieve this goal.

In addition, it was reported earlier this week that the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates have discussed the possibility of easing sanctions on the Assad regime if it moves to cut ties with Iran and restrict Hezbollah’s access to Iranian supplies.
