Yamam and Shin Bet fighters arrested the third terrorist in the cell that murdered Yehonatan Deutsch, may his memory be blessed, after he was injured in an attack earlier this week. The terrorist was at the head of the cell that planned to carry out an attack against Israelis in the immediate timeframe.

Cleared for publication: Yamam and Shin Bet fighters arrested the terrorist Iman Ghanam this evening (Wednesday) at a hospital in Shechem in the Samaria Brigade. Ghanam is the third member of the cell that carried out the shooting attack at the Mechola Junction on August 11, 2024, in which Yehonatan Deutsch, may his memory be blessed, was murdered and another Israeli citizen was injured.
According to an IDF spokesperson, the terrorist was injured in an attack carried out under the guidance of the Shin Bet in the area of the Beqa'a and Jezreel Valley Brigade at the beginning of the week, during which one of the other terrorists in the cell that carried out the attack was eliminated, along with three additional terrorists who carried out several shooting attacks in the Gilboa area.
Ghanam was evacuated to a hospital in Nablus after his thwarting attempt, when security forces acted precisely and arrested him. The operation was carried out after meticulous planning by the Shin Bet and the IDF, with the aim of preventing harm to patients and medical staff at the hospital.
The IDF noted that since the execution of the attack, Ganam has been at the head of a cell that planned to carry out an attack in the immediate timeframe and posed a real threat to the citizens of the State of Israel.
During the operation of the Yamam and the IDF, conducted under the guidance of the Shabak on October 9, 2024, in the area of the Beka'a Valley and the Jezreel Valley Brigade, the terrorist Abed Al-Raouf Masri, who also participated in the attack, was eliminated during an exchange of fire. The terrorist was found with an M-16 weapon, magazines, and military equipment.
The IDF spokesperson stated, "The security forces will continue to operate wherever necessary and by all means to thwart the threat of terrorism and to ensure the safety of Israeli citizens."
