Israel says no hostage negotiation team heading for Cairo

Contrary to reports in Qatari media, Israeli security sources said that there is no Israeli delegation headed for Cairo.

Israeli security sources denied an earlier report by Qatari outlet al-Araby al-Jadeed that a delegation headed by Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar is headed to Cairo to restart hostage negotiations.

Egypt has reportedly been working on a new proposal to end the war and return the hostages for a few weeks, now. To that end, it hosted delegations of Fatah and Hamas to discuss not only the terms of the deal but also the envisioned future governance of the Gaza Strip, led by either technocrats or a joint committee, after the war ends.
