American actor Kevin Spacey made an unexpected visit to Israel on Friday, bringing attention to areas near the Gaza border that were deeply impacted by the October 7 Hamas massacre. Spacey, famed for his roles in The Usual Suspects and House of Cards, was accompanied by British author and pro-Israel journalist Douglas Murray.
During his visit, Spacey surprised Ayala Levinstein, a lone soldier serving in a combat intelligence unit of the Israeli military. Levinstein, originally from the U.S., is a close family friend of Spacey.
In addition to meeting Levinstein, Spacey plans to visit the site of the Nova Music Festival, where hundreds were killed or injured during the Hamas attack. He is expected to depart Israel on Monday evening.
A two-time Academy Award winner, Spacey rose to fame in the 1990s with his performances in The Usual Suspects and American Beauty. He later became a household name as Frank Underwood in Netflix’s acclaimed political thriller House of Cards.
