What's the connection between Israel's war and the Syrian war?

An expert on Iranian affairs identified this direct connection between Israel's intense round of fighting in Lebanon and the current breakthroughs in northern Syria.

Nati Toobian, a senior researcher of Iranian affairs, told Channel 14 today (Sunday) that the IDF's fight against Hezbollah in the north had a direct effect on the weakening of Bashar Assad's defenses in Syria, leading to the current rebel military successes.

According to Toobian, the IDF's operations against Hezbollah were powerful enough that the terrorist organization, which also helps bolster Assad's forces, was forced to withdraw forces from Syria to contend with IDF attacks and strikes.

This reality created a vacuum in Syria which anti-Assad forces are now exploiting, possibly with the backing of Turkey. As Toobian noted, the anti-Assad forces now managed to do in a few days what they previously needed a year to accomplish.
