Israel Beytenu leader and former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said at the Israel Hayom conference today (Sunday) that Israel has no good options or sides to support in the newly erupting Syrian Civil War.

Liberman said that "the Syrian rebels are no less bad than Hamas or Hezbollah." He also openly wondered why Israel has not yet bombed Iran's nuclear installations.

Liberman's statement was echoed by Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, who said that the war in Syria was one between "Shiite Jihadists" and "Sunni Jihadists," and that Israel's interest in the war is to protect the minorities in Syria through a federal arrangement, especially the Druze and Shiites.
