A student from Be'er Sheva was arrested after joining the ISIS organization.

In a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police, Muhammad Amash, a 24-year-old Israeli citizen, a student at the technological college in Be'er Sheva, originally from Jisr az-Zarqa, was arrested for questioning in November 2024 on suspicion of security activities inspired by the terrorist organization ISIS (Daesh).

During his interrogation by the Shin Bet and the Central Unit of the Negev District in the southern region, it was revealed that he joined the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization as a member, pledging allegiance to the organization. It was also revealed that Mohammed Amash operated profiles on Instagram through which he shared numerous extremist content of the Islamic State, including calls to commit acts of terrorism.

At the end of his interrogation, the Southern District Prosecutor's Office (Criminal) filed an indictment today, attributing security offenses to him, including membership in a terrorist organization, expressing solidarity with a terrorist organization, and incitement to terrorism.

This is an operation that sheds light on the influence of the terrorist organization ISIS (Daesh) in Israel, which has inspired deadly attacks carried out by Israeli citizens. This arrest joins other recent events, in which young people were detained for admitting their support for ISIS and pledging allegiance to the organization.

"The Israel Security Agency and the Israel Police view with great severity any involvement or connection of Israeli citizens to terrorist activities, including to the Islamic State (ISIS), and will continue to act with increased effort to thwart and fully enforce the law against those involved in these offenses," it was stated.
