Iran is constructing a "defensive tunnel" in Tehran, according to a report from the semi-official Tasnim news agency on Tuesday, following recent Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.

The tunnel, situated near the heart of the capital, is designed to connect a station on the Tehran metro directly to the Imam Khomeini hospital, providing an underground route to the medical facility. “This is the first tunnel in the country with defensive applications,” the head of transport for Tehran City Council told Tasnim.

The development comes after Israel conducted its first officially recognized strikes on Iranian soil last month, targeting missile production facilities and other key sites near Tehran and in western Iran. These strikes were in response to an Iranian missile attack on Israeli territory on October 1.
