Israel is very worried about how quiet Iran has been lately. ntelligence officials believe Tehran is planning something big before Trump takes office in January.
According to Israeli news site Walla, Tehran is changing its tactics: Instead of an immediate response, Iran appears to be building a "terror army," strengthening its forces across Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon.
The ground invasion threat hasn't gone away either. While Israel disrupted Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force's plans to raid from Lebanon, intelligence suggests Iran is looking for new routes through Syria and possibly Jordan.
But what really worries Israeli security officials is Iran's nuclear program. Tehran has ramped up uranium enrichment to 60% over the past year, stopping just short of the 90% weapons-grade threshold. Thier capacity for enriched uranium means that Iran has effectively become a nuclear threshold state.
As if these things aren't concerning enough, Israel faces another challenge: their air force likely can't take out Iran's nuclear facilities alone. because the program is too well-protected, they would need U.S. help for any serious strike. That's why these weeks before Trump's inauguration have security chiefs especially nervous.
