17-year-old arrested for planning to carry out a terror attack

A 17-year-old minor living in the Negev and his Palestinian father living in the West Bank were arrested on suspicion of committing security offenses. Additionally, the minor intended to carry out a terrorist attack inspired by terrorist organizations.

Cleared for publication: In a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police, a 17-year-old minor residing in the Negev was arrested for intending to carry out a terrorist attack inspired by terrorist organizations.

It has been permitted for publication that on October 15, 2024, in a joint operation of the Israel Security Agency and the Israel Police, a minor Israeli citizen, a 17-year-old resident of the Negev whose father is of Palestinian origin from the West Bank, was arrested for interrogation by the ISA on suspicion of committing security offenses and intending to carry out an attack inspired by terrorist organizations.

As part of the investigation, it was revealed that the minor identifies with and supports the Hamas terror organization. For a period of time, he engaged in various terrorist content and even expressed his intentions to carry out an attack and took actions in preparation for it.

In the joint statement from the spokespersons of the Shin Bet and the Israel Police, it was stated that "the Israel Security Agency and the Israel Police will continue to act decisively to locate and prevent terrorist activities and will take the measures at their disposal to thwart any activity that threatens the security of the State of Israel, its security forces, and its citizens."
