Troubling statement: "There are tunnels from Syria and Jordan"

Dr. Anat Berko, A Lieutenant Colonel in reserves, claims that "there are tunnels from Syria and Jordan as well." We are exposed to a ground invasion from all our borders. Let's remember that a senior Syrian official made the same statement about two months ago.

Dr. Anat Berko, a reservist lieutenant colonel, terrorism researcher, and former Knesset member, said today (Sunday) in an interview with Kan 11 that "we live in a virtual reality – there are tunnels from Syria and Jordan as well. We are exposed to a ground invasion from all our borders, we can no longer show mercy to our enemy."

Let us remind you that about two months ago, an unusual conversation with a senior Syrian official was revealed on I24 News. In the conversation, he describes an unprecedented security reality, with terrorist organizations along the Syrian border and terrorist tunnels beneath the Jordanian border.

According to the senior official's claims, the Iranian ring of fire around Israel is expanding day by day. In a conversation, the official revealed that "in recent days, Houthi operatives have arrived from Iraq to southern Syria to open a new front of unmanned aerial vehicles against Israel."

Additionally, he explained that most of the weapons smuggling into Israel, including those along the Jordan border, originate from Syria on behalf of Iran, and contrary to the commonly claimed purpose of the smuggling, it is not for criminal purposes but for building terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria.

That same source even claims that a detail known to the senior command in the IDF but not yet published in Israel is the existence of terror and smuggling tunnels. According to the senior official, the tunnels run under the Jordan-Israel border and are used for direct smuggling by the Iranians and by elements working to undermine the Jordanian monarchy by sowing instability in the region.
