Qatar's latest moves to distance itself from Hamas leaders reveal its two-faced diplomacy, Middle East expert Idit Bar told Israeli media today.
"They're already preparing for Trump," Bar explained in an interview with Lital Shemesh. "They know he'll be tough on terror support, so they're taking a step back now before being forced to later."
Bar warns against taking Qatar's friendly gestures at face value: "They dance at every wedding. Sure, they speak nicely and host sports events, but they're also financing terrorism. They're Iran's arm - the snake's head, really."
The expert highlighted how Qatar uses culture and sports events like the 2022 World Cup - to mask darker activities. "They're especially good at fooling the West, which remains trapped in its own misconceptions," she noted.
Interestingly, Bar points out that Arab nations see through Qatar's act: "Arabs from Gulf states understand exactly who Qatar really is. That's why Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and others boycotted them - they recognize Qatar's role in funding terror and using Al Jazeera to stir unrest."
This analysis comes as CNN reports Qatar has agreed to expel Hamas leadership following U.S. pressure, after months of failed ceasefire negotiations.
