The United States and Britain launched strikes on Yemen's capital Sana'a, Amran governorate and other areas, Al Masira TV, Houthi TV's main news outlet, reported on Sunday.

According to the report and Houthi residents, nine raids were carried out by the US and British army, attacking Sana'a, its suburbs and the Amran governorate.

Iranian-affiliated Houthi militants have launched attacks on international shipping near Yemen since November last year as an act of solidarity with the Palestinians in Israel's war against Hamas.

The attacks triggered reprisals by the US and Britain after world trade was disrupted as shipowners sailed away from the Red Sea and Suez Canal and opted for the longer route around the southern tip of Africa.
