OK, So How Do We Get Them?

National Religious party MK and National Missions Minister Orit Strook gave an interview today (Thursday) for Reshet Bet radio on a variety of important national issues, including the dismissal of Yoav Gallant as Defense Minister and the question of the Charedi draft.

Regarding Gallant's dismissal, Strook said that the debate was also about how the war was conducted, and that Gallant did not implement government and cabinet decisions regarding war policy.

She then said that "I expect the fool's cycle in Gaza to end, with one hand eliminating Hamas and the other providing them with humanitarian aid, this is an example of the serious debate we had with Gallant."

Regarding the north, she said "in Lebanon, we still aren't in the stage of exiting and ending the war. Any settlement needs to match the goal of returning the residents of the north to their homes in safety."

Regarding the draft, Strook said that "we need more thousands of Charedi soldiers" and that "this target is within reach as there is an alignment between the number the IDF can draft and what the Charedim are willing to vote for."

Strook said that Gallant wrecked this effort by being too heavy-handed: "Gallant handicapped this critical effort to draft Charedim, on the one hand he prohibited cooperation by his ministry in legislation, while on the other hand he tried to draft by force, with very bad results. All this, at a time when we need thousands of soldiers."
