The incoming Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, spoke for the first time since the announcement of his appointment to the position. Katz first addressed the Prime Minister and thanked him: "I thank Prime Minister Netanyahu for the trust he has placed in me by appointing me as Minister of Defense."
Katz continued and explained the sense of mission in the position and announced: "I accept this responsibility with a sense of mission and holy reverence for the security of the State of Israel and its citizens."
The incoming minister continued and announced that he would work in cooperation with the security system to achieve Israel's security goals: "We will work together to lead the security system to victory against our enemies and to achieve the war objectives: the return of all hostages as the most important ethical mission, the destruction of Hamas in Gaza, the defeat of Hezbollah in Lebanon, the thwarting of Iranian aggression, and the safe return of residents from the north and south to their homes."
