According to Israeli analysts, Hamas currently holds 51 Israeli hostages believed to be alive, as reported by Israel Hayom this morning (Sunday).
Additional assessments indicate that the remaining Israeli hostages held in Gaza are presumed dead, though official confirmations are pending.
Around two months ago, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that approximately half of the hostages remained alive. This figure was based on intelligence gathered since October 7 from various sources, both public and military.
Currently, only 37 hostages have been officially declared dead, with their bodies in Hamas’s possession. The remaining cases require more concrete evidence before a formal declaration of death can be made.
Israel has reportedly collected sufficient intelligence to suggest that additional hostages are likely deceased, although the formal criteria for declaring death - both medical and religious - require a higher standard of proof.
