Air raid sirens were activated recently now (Thursday) in Haifa, the Krayot and other settlements in the area, including Kfar Bialik, Ramat Yohanan, Osha and Kfar Maccabi. At the same time, sirens were also sounded in the settlements on the conflict line and in the Galilee, including Shfar'am, Afek, Arab El Aramsha, Tamra and Ebalin.
This was a result of a barrage of some 25 rockets which were launched from Lebanon towards the north of the country, with some of them being intercepted.
A a 21-year-old woman was slightly injured by shrapnel at the Gilam intersection near Shfar'am (Shefa-Amr). MDA medics and paramedics treated her and then transferred her to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
Three people were wounded by shrapnel near Highway 79, including a 60-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man in critical condition, and another 71-year-old man with a minor injury. After performing CPR, the 2 critically injured patients were pronounced dead, and lightly injured person was taken to the hospital.
In addition, the police stated that "Alerts and echoes of explosions were heard in the area of Shfaram (Shefa-Amr). The police are conducting searches in the area."
Damage was detected on the road near the Gilam - Kiryat Ata intersection. According to medical personnel on scene, some people were suffering from acute anxiety, but there were no other injuries reported.
Update: The two people who were killed are a mother (60)and her son (30), Arab Israelis from Shfaram. It was reported that they were hit by shrapnel while picking olives in their orchard.
