The owner of the trucking company that employed the driver who rammed into pedestrians in the Glilot area of northern Tel Aviv, killing one and injuring dozens, stated that the driver did not adhere to his designated route.
"He went off course. After leaving Karnei Shomron for Ramat Hasharon and unloading, he was supposed to take Route 5 back to Ramat Hasharon. Instead, he deviated from his path and drove around Ramat Hasharon until he reached the site of the ramming. He had no reason to be there," the owner told Kan News.
The attack resulted in one fatality and 35 injuries, some of them serious. The truck driver was neutralized at the scene. Initial reports indicated that a bus had stopped near a bus stop to let off passengers close to the Glilot military base when the truck collided with both the bus and pedestrians waiting nearby. Civilians present at the scene returned fire, neutralizing the driver.
The assailant was identified as Rami Natour, an Arab Israeli from Qalansuwa. His family denies the attack and claims he suffered from heart disease, stating, "This wasn't a terror attack; Rami had health issues and lost control due to a medical problem."
