"Informed sources" speaking to the Saudi outlet Elaph today said that the "traditional" structure of Hezbollah no longer exists thanks to Israeli assassinations, pager explosions, and strikes, and that cracks are emerging in the once-storied irregular army.
According to Elaph, Hezbollah is focusing on sending "quality" units south of the Litani River to try and delay or harm IDF soldiers operating just across the border and demolishing Hezbollah weapons and infrastructure.
The sources also report that Hezbollah is increasingly suffering from problems of defection, especially in the southern part of the country, with multiple operatives not moving to assigned locations or simply not showing up after being called up. Some have even fled the country.
The main reason for these defections appears to be fear for their safety, and Hezbollah reportedly lacks the capacity for stopping or stemming these defections.
