The head of the Karnei Shomron Council, Yonatan Kuznitz, paid tribute to Shaul Moyal (47), who fell while fighting in Lebanon: "This morning we were informed of another painful loss for the Yishuv– the death of the Shaul Moyal while he was standing bravely in the defense of the homeland.
Shaul was married to Smadar and is the father of ten children. He lived in the Aloni Shiloh neighborhood. There are no words that can describe the magnitude of the sorrow and pain that we all feel at this time. Our hearts go out to the Moyal family, who are now dealing with an unimaginable loss. On behalf of all the residents of the Karnei Shomron Council, we hug you and send you our condolences from the bottom of our hearts."
Moyal taught at the Amit Kfar Batya school in Ra'anana. The principal, Rabbi Yoni Berlin says that Shaul was a valued science teacher who taught for many years with love and dedication, a beloved teacher who taught and educated his students to strive for excellence in every field.
Rabbi Berlin added, "Shaul was an educator who loved his students and their success with all his heart, a special and humble teacher who taught uncompromising perseverance. We will remember Shaul as a teacher of life. A man of many actions and a big soul."
The teachers at the school talked to the students and the school principal appealed to their parents to pay attention to their children and to inform the counselor if their children display an unusual reaction.
Four IDF soldiers also fell in the same battle: Captain (res.) Rabbi Avi Goldberg, 43, from Jerusalem, who was a military rabbi in Battalion 8207, Major (res.) Gilad Elmaleh, 30, from Jerusalem, Captain (res.) Amit Hayut, 29, from Haifa and Major (res.) Eliav Amram Abitbol, 36 years old, from Eitan, deputy commander of a company in the 8207 battalion.
