IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi stated, "The elimination of Sinwar wasn’t part of a set plan, but it wasn’t merely a coincidence either." During a recent visit to the Jabaliya area in the Gaza Strip, he conducted a situational assessment alongside Southern Command's Commanding Officer MG Yaron Finkelman, 162nd Division Commander BG Itzik Cohen, brigade commanders, and other leaders.
Halevi noted, "In the north, we have the potential to achieve a decisive outcome. We've effectively dismantled Hezbollah's senior command structure. The presence of the 450th Brigade troops and the tank commander course unit in that area was unplanned, as they weren’t aware of their target. However, it wasn't random; it’s a systematic outcome stemming from the pressure applied to Rafah and the dismantling of the Rafah Brigade."
He emphasized that this was also a result of regional command's insistence on deploying additional forces during this holiday month, pushing forward and maintaining operational control while addressing challenges directly. "This is a methodical approach, not mere coincidence. Determination and persistence are key," he added.
"While our opponents are determined as well, our resolve is greater. We possess superiority in capability, justification, and strength. Another significant development is occurring in Jabaliya, marking a psychological setback for the enemy. If we eliminate the northern Gaza Brigade commander, it would signify another major blow. These strategic moves may present new challenges tomorrow, but the pressure we exert is leading us closer to further successes," Halevi concluded.
