Quds Force commander appears live after assassination rumors

Following speculation about his death, Ismail Qaani was shown on Iranian television as he attended a funeral in Iran.

Quds Force Commander Ismail Qaani appeared on Iranian television Monday night, crying as the body of senior IRGC official Abbas Nilfrushan arrived at Iran's Mehrabad Airport.

There have been conflicting reports recently regarding the fate of Quds Force commander Ismail Qa'ani, who has not been seen in public for two weeks.

Various Arab media claimed that he was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. However, last Thursday, the British website Middle East Eye reported that Qa'ani was not injured in the Israeli strikes in Beirut.

The reason he does not appear in public is apparently due to the many rumors that have spread in recent weeks that Qa'ani is suspected of spying for Israel. A day later, the newspaper reported that Quds Force commander Qaani suffered a heart attack during interrogations in Iran on suspicion of spying for Israel and was evacuated to a hospital – Iran claimed it was fake news.
