Hostages, Bnei Brak, Rabbi Yitzchak Kuldetzky

Haredi rabbi sleeping on floor since last October 7th moves hostages' families

As part of a trip to Bnei Brak by the families of hostages, they came to Rebbetzin Kolodetzky to be blessed. She told them that her husband had not slept on a bed since last Simchat Torah.

Rebbetzin Leah Kolodetzky, daughter of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, zt"l, moved the families of hostages on Sunday evening when she showed them how her husband, 70-year-old Rabbi Yitzchak Kolodetzky, has slept since Hamas' surprise attack on October 7.

The visit took place at her home as part of a Sukkot tour of hostage families in Bnei Brak. The Rebbetzin told them that for several months after Simchat Torah, her husband, slept on the floor as a sign of solidarity with the hostages.

She added that at the end of winter, her rabbi husband had gotten too cold from sleeping on the floor, so he started sleeping on plywood.

The organizers of the tour in Bnei Brak are Rabbi David Druk of Kissufim and Rebbetzin Ricky Sitton of Ayelet Hashahar, who go with family members of hostages to rabbinical homes and yeshivas in order to raise awareness of the issue of abductees in the ultra-Orthodox sector.
