Last Thursday, police officers from the northern district of the police seized a rare World War II-era pistol in the community of Sakhnin, which was used, among other things, by Nazi officers.

It is a Walter 38 pistol that was smuggled recently from Syria or Iraq to Israel and ended up in the hands of criminal organizations in the Arab sector. The gun was seized during a raid carried out by the policemen together with soldiers from the Northern Border Police tactical unit and with the assistance of a helicopter, during which the gun was thrown off the roof along with two magazines.

The 25-year-old homeowner was arrested by police. This is the first time the police have seized a gun of this type in Israel. Its value is estimated at several tens of thousands of shekels. "This gun is a big surprise to us," explains a police officer, "it's not a gun used by criminal organizations at all, they usually use a 9mm Glock."

Meanwhile, in recent days, Northern District police have raided compounds in villages where criminals affiliated with Abu Latif's criminal organization operate. During the raid, eight suspects were arrested and a Glock pistol and a mine that could be used to detonate an IED were seized. The court extended the detention of the eight suspects between three and five days.
