Iran's mole hunt: IRGC Quds Force leader Esmail Qaani reportedly among those being interrogated

Following multiple successful assassinations of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, Iran has reportedly launched a massive investigation into a possible Israeli penetration of the Iranian leadership.

Several sources speaking to Middle East Eye said that Iran's IRGC Quds Force Commander Esmail Qaani is among those being interrogated regarding a possible Israeli mole within the Iranian senior leadership.

Suspicion of possible penetration of key Iranian decision making circles started after Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Iran. It reached a peak with the successful assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the possible assassination of his successor Hashem Safieddine.

According to the sources, it's unclear where Qaani is being held - whether in Iran or Lebanon - but that he and other senior officers are currently in lockdown and being questioned under the direction of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Qaani has not been seen for several days now, and while officials say that he is safe and sound, all promises of having him appear publicly continue to be put off.
