Two surface-to-surface missiles were launched Sunday morning from Lebanon toward the Carmel area and the Menashe area. Alarms were also sounded in the city of Hadera, for the first time since the war began on October 7. The missiles were successfuly shot down by the airforce.
The alarms went off at 08:27 first in Zichron Yaakov and surrounding communities, and then expanded to communities in Carmel, Hadera, Caesarea, Binyamina, Or Akiva, Tirat Carmel and Haifa. Residents reported loud explosions heard nearby.
According to the updated Home Front Command guidelines, studies can be held in almost all Carmel communities, but studies may not be held in places where there is no protected area in Isfiya, Daliyat al-Carmel, Yokneam Illit, and Megiddo Regional Council.
The alarms were activated while many students were in schools and high schools, in communities where the guidelines do not prohibit educational activities or condition them on the presence of safe spaces.
Residents of the northern communities were instructed this morning in accordance with the Home Front Command's assessment of the situation, and in light of the intensification of fighting and unfocused volley fire to reduce movements in the areas of the communities, avoid gatherings and stay near protected areas, shortly afterwards sirens were activated in Kiryat Shmona and the surrounding area.
