Residents of Northern Israel are furious: This ceasefire is 'a knife in the back of hundreds of thousands of citizens'

Evacuated northern Israelis vehemently reject ceasefire talks, warning that any agreement with Hezbollah now would be a "first-class national disgrace" and a deadly betrayal of their security.

The residents attacked: "Whoever signs a political agreement now - the blood of those murdered in the next massacre in the north will be on their hands," and added: "A ceasefire now permits the bloodshed of northern residents, we won't return home if Hezbollah is not defeated"

Northern residents are furious about the talks for a ceasefire in the north which is expected to take effect in the coming hours. The "Fighting for the North" headquarters, representing thousands of evacuated families, stated: "A ceasefire will be a mark of Cain on the government, and harm to the residents of the northern confrontation line who have been suffering for nearly a year."

Rafael Selab, one of the leaders of the headquarters, said: "It's inconceivable that after a year of complete abandonment in the north, a week after they instilled hope in us for returning home and a bit of national pride, they're already folding the IDF's strength and going for a political arrangement. You've taken our last breath. Whoever signs a political agreement now - the blood of those murdered in the next massacre in the north will be on their hands. This is an operational mistake. This is a tactical mistake. And above all, it's a first-class national disgrace."

Matan Davidian, one of the leaders of the headquarters and representative of the Shlomi evacuees in Jerusalem, said: "If you are not capable of winning, return the keys, we will make sure to win! We call on the Prime Minister and Defense Minister to listen only to Israel's security needs and repel all external pressures."

Maayan Benizri, also one of the leaders of the headquarters, said: "We, the residents of the north, are not willing to accept a ceasefire. A ceasefire now permits the bloodshed of northern residents, we won't return home if Hezbollah is not defeated!"

Rita Ben Yair, a northern resident and one of the leaders of the headquarters: "Our army has been more purposeful than ever for quite some time, especially in recent weeks when we see a change from defense to offense. The decision on a ceasefire will crush the morale of the soldiers and the sense of victory with such a contemptible decision. As a mother of 2 soldiers and as a resident who has been evacuated from the north for 11 months, I demand: We must not give the enemy peace."
