Red Alert, Eilat, UAV's fired, injured

Sirens in Eilat: 2 drones intercepted, 2 injured by shrapnel

For the first time in about two months, red alerts were sounded in Eilat after a UAV coming from the east was intercepted in the area of the city. A fire broke out in the port area, and two people were injured - including a 68-year-old man who was slightly injured by shrapnel.

Red alarms were heard now (Wednesday) in Eilat, after UAV's originating from the east were fired towards the city area. Apparently, the alarms were activated for fear of being hit by shrapnel and interceptors.

It was later reported that the fragments of the interceptor hit the port area and led to a fire, when 2 people were injured - including a 68-year-old man who was slightly injured after being hit by the fragments of the interceptor, and a 28-year-old man in a minor condition with abrasions on his hands.

MDA clarified that the two injured were in a very minor condition, and were treated on the spot by MDA teams and did not need to be evacuated to the hospital. MDA emergency medic David Cohen said that "We arrived at the scene very quickly, where we saw destruction in a nearby operational building. A wounded man who was at the scene, a 68-year-old man who suffered glass shards and a few cuts, was fully conscious and in very light condition, another 28-year-old man who was also injured and bruised from rubbing his hands was walking around the place even though he only suffered minor injuries. We gave the wounded medical treatment in the field, which included stopping bleeding and dressings, and they did not need further treatment in the hospital."

The IDF spokeswoman stated that "two unmanned aircraft were detected coming from the east towards the area of the city of Eilat, a missile ship of the Navy type "Saar 5", intercepted one unmanned aircraft and the fall of another unmanned aircraft was detected in the area of the city of Eilat" At this stage it is not clear where the intercepted drone came from: the media associated with the Houthis in Yemen claimed that they had launched two drones towards Eilat, but at the same time the pro-Iranian channel Sabrin News reported that it was the militias in Iraq who launched the drone.

This is the first time that alarms have been sounded in the southern city in several months. The last time alarms were reported in Eilat was on July 21, when a surface-to-surface missile that made its way from Yemen towards the territory of the country was intercepted by the Arrow 3 system. The IDF clarified that the missile did not cross into the territory of the country, and that the alert was triggered due to fears of interception fragments falling in the area .
