Rockets launched from Lebanon on Monday evening triggered sirens in Haifa and the Carmel Ridge, marking the first major rocket volley toward Israel's third-largest city since the Second Lebanon War in 2006. Israeli media showed footage of approximately 10 interceptions by air defense systems.
Earlier in the day, rockets from Lebanon also set off sirens across the northern West Bank for the first time, with some reaching as far as 60 miles south of the border—a range similar to that of the Tel Aviv area.
In a span of just over an hour starting around 4:15 p.m. (Israel time), approximately 130 rockets were fired from Lebanon in multiple salvos targeting various northern Israeli regions. Alarms blared in the Carmel Ridge, Haifa Bay—one of Israel's most densely populated areas—as well as Acre, the Lower Galilee, Jezreel Valley, Safed, the Golan Heights, and other areas.
The IDF confirmed that around 10 rockets were fired in the initial barrage, with several intercepted by air defenses and others landing in unpopulated areas.
