Yahya Sinwar, October 7, Israel-Gaza War

Sinwar hunt intensifies: Bodies retrieved from Gaza tested for Hamas leader's identity

IDF examines multiple bodies from Gaza for signs of the October 7 mastermind, but Sinwar remains elusive.

The IDF has brought several bodies of Hamas operatives killed in combat operations in Gaza to Israel, as part of an effort to determine if one of them is Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind behind the October 7 massacre, according to a report by Channel 12 News.

However, the test results revealed that none of the bodies examined belonged to Sinwar.

Kan News also reported that Israel is investigating the possibility that Sinwar was killed in an airstrike. Despite these reports, there is no intelligence confirming his death, and defense officials are divided on whether the Hamas leader has been killed or if he has simply been cut off from communication.

Earlier on Monday, IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari commented on the rumors surrounding Sinwar’s death, stating: "I cannot confirm, and cannot deny... I do not have information that he is dead."
