The statement noted, "As the Zionist regime and its Western allies, particularly the United States, have failed to achieve their malicious objectives against the people of Gaza and Lebanon, they are now attempting to extend the crisis to Iran through a series of planned actions against our country's security."
The Revolutionary Guards reported that the alleged spies were apprehended across six different Iranian provinces, although no specific timeline for the arrests was provided.
Iran frequently accuses Israel of conducting sabotage operations on its territory and regularly captures and executes individuals accused of espionage for Israel.
In March, Iran's judiciary announced the execution of a "terrorist" linked to a drone attack targeting a defense ministry site in central Iran the previous year. The executed individual was said to have planned to detonate explosives at the Ministry of Defense workshop in Isfahan under the direction of a Mossad intelligence officer.
A month prior, Iran reported the execution of four individuals accused of spying for Mossad, claiming they had met with Mossad chief David Barnea and received training in Africa before entering Iran via the Kurdish region in Iraq. Last December, Iran announced the execution of an "Israeli Mossad spy" in its southeastern region.
Additionally, last year, Iran executed four Iranian men accused of cooperating with the Mossad and receiving training from a Mossad operative based in Sweden.
