Israel is currently investigating the possibility that Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’ top leader in Gaza and mastermind behind the October 7 attack, may have been killed during an IDF airstrike, according to a report by Kan News.

However, no concrete intelligence supports this theory at the moment, and defense officials are divided on the matter. Some believe Sinwar has merely been cut off from communication, while others think he might have been eliminated.

In recent weeks, Sinwar has made headlines for sending letters to both the leader of the Houthi rebel group, praising them for their missile strike on Israel, and to Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah. The letter to Nasrallah followed the death of Ismail Haniyeh, with Sinwar reiterating Hamas' commitment to the Axis of Resistance against Israel.
