Liberman addressed the recent explosions in Lebanon, stating, "We don't know who was behind them; I suspect, as always, that it was elite units from Liechtenstein." He added, "In any case, this is a brilliant operation in a Hollywood style. What’s clear is that we have become addicted to many operations reminiscent of James Bond; they look good, they generate media coverage, and they boost the morale of the people."
However, he posed a critical question: "To what extent do these recent events bring the residents of the north closer to returning home? How capable are we of providing them with real security? What’s lacking here is a clear and comprehensive strategy. If I were among the decision-makers in Liechtenstein, I would take action and seize the momentum—we must see it through. We can't stop midway; we must strike while the iron is hot and not leave the entire country in a state of readiness."
Liberman: In Any Future Coalition, We Won't Sit with Netanyahu at Any Stage
Liberman also commented on the tension between Netanyahu and Gallant: "I want to address the intention to fire the Defense Minister and appoint someone else during a time of war. Sometimes it's necessary to dismiss senior officials and generals, but it must be based on security considerations. There’s no doubt that this case is purely a cynical and personal decision aimed at preserving the coalition and its survival."
He continued, "The government's goal is not to strengthen security; rather, the opposite. They want to pass the conscription exemption law, and I don't understand how such a law is possible in our current situation. Moreover, if we're going to replace someone, I would replace the Prime Minister first—he is the one who needs to go."
Regarding future elections and a potential coalition with Netanyahu, Liberman said, "I've also heard various commentators claim that a Prime Minister cannot be replaced during wartime, but of course, it is possible. Just as Churchill replaced Chamberlain. The current Prime Minister talks a lot about Churchill, but he isn’t even Chamberlain."
"For me," Liberman clarified, "when discussing a future coalition, we are absolutely not willing to be part of a coalition with Netanyahu at any stage and in any situation."
