The body of terrorist Maher al-Jazi, who carried out a shooting attack at Allenby Bridge last week, killing three Israelis, was returned overnight (Monday/Tuesday) to Jordan, according to Kann Reshet Bet Radio.
The body was returned following heavy pressure from Jordan and Egypt on the government which delayed its return at first. One of the reported reasons for the pressure from the Jordanians was the stormy protests in the kingdom.
The terror attack occurred last week when a Jordanian truck driver entered the Allenby Bridge from the Jordanian side and likely concealed his weapon in his truck. When he reached the area, he took out his weapon and opened fire at the people in the cargo terminal. Three Israeli were killed in the attack.
The IDF said that "the terrorist came through Jordan in a truck towards the Allenby Crossing in the [area of] Bik'a and Valleys [Territorial] Brigade, got off the truck and opened fire towards forces which protected the crossing. The terrorist was eliminated by security forces. The death of a number of Israeli citizens was determined after having been injured as the result of the terrorist attack."
