Two women of approximately 60 years old were killed and six people were injured in a car accident last night (Wednesday) involving two private vehicles on Road 431 near Ramla.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene worked to extract eight people who were trapped in the vehicles. Among the injured - three were seriously injured, two moderately injured, and one lightly injured.
The deaths of the two women were pronounced at the scene by MDA teams. MDA teams provided medical treatment to the six injured people, and then evacuated them to Assaf Harofeh, Sheba, and Kaplan hospitals.
MDA emergency medicine paramedic Yehuda Marcus and senior MDA paramedic Rami Meushar said: "This was a shocking accident. We saw two crushed vehicles on the road. In one of the vehicles, two women around 60 years old were trapped unconscious, with severe multi-system trauma. After firefighters extracted them from the vehicle, we had to pronounce their death. Another woman was extracted conscious but in serious condition, and the driver of the vehicle was moderately injured. From the second vehicle, we extracted 5 passengers in mild condition. After initial treatment at the scene, we evacuated the injured to hospitals."
The police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
