Report: IDF's efforts against Hezbollah rocket launchers continue - with limited effect

According to IDF sources, too many rocket launchers are buried underground or in buildings to be destroyed by airpower alone.

While the IDF has struck multiple Hezbollah rocket launchers both in its preemptive strike in August and as a matter of routine policy thereafter, air strikes can only go so far in hurting Hezbollah's launch capability, according to Mako News.

The main problem, according to IDF sources, is that Hezbollah has hundreds of rocket launchers buried in the ground or in buildings, making it difficult to strike them in a way that would disable them.

Moreover, even though the IDF has destroyed somewhere between dozens and even hundreds of launchers, Iran continuously resupplies Hezbollah via Syria to make up for the losses.

There is nevertheless room for caution in magnifying Hezbollah's capabilities.

According to the IDF, the terrifying number of 180,000 Hezbollah rockets is also a misleading number, according to the IDF. That number includes all projectiles in the Hezbollah arsenal, most of which are short-range mortar rounds.

Per the IDF, the actual number of rockets as popularly understood stands at about 40,000 short-range rockets, and 5,000 medium range rockets. A serious number, but many of these and their launchers have since been fired or destroyed in the multiple IDF strikes along the border.
